With the new WordPress editor already making waves in the industry even before its official release, we’ve been working on an exciting new project for a very well known global financial organisation*
*We’re not allowed to tell you who exactly, just yet!
We’re really excited about this project as it has been built entirely using WordPress’ upcoming Gutenberg editor – a block-based web development editor that promises to be ‘The WordPress of Tomorrow’.
Built to streamline internal communication routes for almost 230,000 employees worldwide, the exciting new project delivers timely news, articles and other important information in six different languages via a mobile app for iOS and Android. While Gutenberg is currently being used on a number of exciting projects across the WordPress development community, the global scale of this project will make it the one of the largest Gutenberg-built applications to date and a powerful demonstration of the new editor’s versatility for large scale projects. It’s something that we have really enjoyed working on, and we’re very proud to have launched it to the Apple App Store and Google Play Store in August.
In addition to launching this project, we also announced our partnership with Amnesty International just last month, to develop a core ‘theme’ using Gutenberg, which can be used to create multiple sites quickly and efficiently. This allows Amnesty to be reactive to the ever growing needs of their work, while holding on to a core identity that unifies each region.
Although very different, these two global projects have helped us to explore and fully understand Gutenberg’s capabilities in great detail.
Here at Big Bite, we have a track record of delivering high-traffic, enterprise-level WordPress sites and innovative React and React Native applications for some of the biggest names in business, publishing and technology. That experience, combined with our activity in the WordPress development community and WordPress.com VIP partner status, position us perfectly to demonstrate what can be achieved with new development tools like Gutenberg for forward-thinking enterprise clients from around the globe.
This project promises to be a landmark application for all involved, and we’re really looking forward to seeing how the scalability of Gutenberg develops in the coming months.
