We’re proud to announce the launch of the redesigned, redeveloped WordPress based Remodelista and Gardenista websites. We have been working with Remodelista head designer Ellen Sitkin and their team to create a new site worthy of the Remodelista and Gardenista name.
Users can now enjoy a site design that does the Remodelista and Gardenista team’s interior design know-how justice as an example of their shared design philosophy of beauty, functionality, and timeless style. We’ve added simple navigation, intelligent search, and seamless integration of featured products throughout the site, meaning that their millions of visitors per month can focus all their efforts on planning and executing their home or garden remodel. Members can also now easily access a directory of the best designers and architects around the world to help make their interior design or landscaping dream a reality.
If you’re interested in how it all works then read on, but first we encourage you to go to see and experience it for yourself.
Behind The Scenes
Features & Function For Users
Boasting over 10,000 fascinating posts, dozens of Remodeling and Gardening 101 guides on everything from seeds to the kitchen sink, featured product shopping and more, simple and swift navigation around and between the Remodelista and Gardenista sites was essential. But we also wanted it to be as seamless as possible.
To this end the new design also features a search overlay for responsive results within the area the user is currently in order to avoid clutter. Users also now have the ability to identify useful stores or design agencies nearby with curated travel guides and a travel map feature. We also introduced integrated product links, so if you just have to have that gorgeous item featured in a post’s photograph you can jump straight to it without having to search or wonder what it was.
Effortless Organisation For Editors & Firms
Built on a WordPress Multisite foundation, we’ve ensured that the many talented and prolific editors and contributors that create and curate Remodelista and Gardenista’s enviable amount of content can continue to do so with as few impediments as possible.
Posts, changes, and updates can be rolled out across multiple areas of the sites, and an overhauled admin panel has introduced additional columns, filters, and other features to make life as easy as possible. Meanwhile the design, architecture, and landscape firms that make up Remodelista and Gardenista’s impressive design directory can edit and update their pages themselves before submitting them for approval.
What The Future Holds
We’re excited to continue to work closely with the team at Remodelista and Gardenista to improve and add new features to the site that we’re sure their users will love.
We’ll also be sharing a more in-depth look at some of the design and development challenges and triumphs of the project in future articles, including how my own role developed from designer to project manager in the process, so keep an eye out for those.
