Introducing The Organized Home

Earlier this year we were thrilled to announce the relaunch of the Remodelista and Gardenista brands. With a powerful combination of intelligent search, product integration, and interactive travel maps, we were able to bring the editorial team’s shared design philosophy of beauty, functionality, and timeless style to the next level.

Following the relaunch, we continued to work with the Remodelista team and began with reimagining their yearly Considered Design Awards, allowing individuals and firms from across the US, Canada, and the United Kingdom to submit their amateur and professional remodelling projects to various categories for a chance to win, with the help of user-based voting.

Since then, we’ve been hard at work to design, build, and launch the next Remodelista and Gardenista sibling site to coincide with the launch of a new book from the editorial team–titled “Remodelista: The Organized Home”.

Introducing The Organized Home

Built with a strong foundation of existing content, The Organized Home has been designed specifically to focus on the storage and organization revolution, to help provide solutions for every room and every budget; with the content ranging from posts focusing on specific rooms, to collections of the editors favourite organizing essentials.

“In Remodelista: The Organized Home, an artful guide to storage and organization, you’ll learn to buy fewer (and better) things, steal ideas from organizational masters, ditch the plastic, and establish habits and routines that simplify your life.”
Julie Carlson, Remodelista Editor-in-Chief

Speed and Performance

With Remodelista and Gardenista both being feature-packed sites we wanted to take a different approach with The Organized Home—focusing on speed and performance. By leveraging infinite loading, lazy loading, and AMP support we’ve worked hard to optimise the experience for readers to help them discover the most relevant content faster than ever.

Yet although the focus on performance, we’ve still made sure that the editorial team can continue to benefit from the advantages of the WordPress Multisite platform. Therefore despite The Organized Home being a completely new theme, it still maintains access to the entire shared content library. Posts can be moved around between the 3 sites along with all media and products uploaded being available to use on The Organized Home immediately.

What’s Next?

We’ll continue to work closely with the Remodelista team to help refine their sites, bringing out features and functionality to benefit the editorial team and readers alike.

Over the next few weeks, we will be publishing several more blog posts to delve into some of the functionality of the sites so stay tuned! In the meantime why not check out one of their latest articles, 10 Favorites: Best of Ikea’s 2018 Collection.
